Admission to Post Basic BSc Nursing , Saveetha University

Eligibility:

A candidate for admission to the Post Basic B.Sc Nursing and Diploma in Critical Care Nursing course should have passed General Nursing and Midwifery after 10+2 or equivalent examination with science subjects. The candidate should be a registered nurse and midwife or equivalent with any state nursing registration council.
A male nurse trained before the implementation of the new integrated course besides being registered as a nurse with State Nurses registration council, shall produce evidence of training approved by Indian Nursing Council for a similar duration in lieu of midwifery in any one of the following areas - OT Techniques, Ophthalmic Nursing, Leprosy Nursing, TB Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, Neurological and Neurosurgical nursing, Community health nursing, Cancer nursing, Orthopaedic Nursing.
The Candidate should be medically fit.
The maximum age limit for admission is 40 years.

Course Details:

The duration of the Post Basic B.Sc Nursing  course is two academic years. The Duration of the Diploma in Critical Care Nursing is 6 months. The academic year for Post Basic B.Sc Nursing and Diploma in Critical Care Nursing commences in the month of August every year.

Admission Procedure:

The admission for Post Basic B.Sc Nursing & Diploma in Critical Care Nursing is based on the marks obtained by the candidate in the Qualifying Examination and the performance in the Interview. The interview will be held on 04.07.2011 at 11.00 am at the Council Hall, Saveetha University, Saveetha Nagar, Thandalam, Chennai - 602 105.

Issue of Application:

The Application and Prospectus for Post Basic B.Sc Nursing and Diploma in Critical Care Nursing will be issued from the University office from 14.02.2011 onwards. Applications can be obtained on payment of Rs.500/- by cash (or) D.D. taken in favour of Saveetha University, payable at Chennai in person (or) Rs.550/- by Post.
Applications can also be downloaded from the Website www.saveetha.com, and the completed applications forms should be accompanied by D.D. for Rs.500/- taken in favour of Saveetha University, payable at Chennai.
Completed Application forms with attested photocopies of the GNM degree certificate and GNM registration certificate should reach the Director of Admissions, Saveetha University, Thandalam, Chennai  - 602 105 on or before 15.06.2011.

Interview:

The interview call letter will be sent by post to the eligible applicants before 24.06.2011. The interview will be held in the University Council Hall on 04.07.2011 at 10.00 am at the Council Hall, Saveetha University, Saveetha Nagar, Thandalam, Chennai - 602 105. The candidate should be present for interview at the appointed place and time. He/she should bring all the original documents for the interview.
After the interview, the selected list of candidates will be published on the website and University notice board on 05.07.2011. The selected candidates should pay the fees and complete the admission procedures by 30.07.2011. The vacant seats will be filled in order from the wait listed candidates.
The course will commence on 10.08.2011. The students should report for classes at Saveetha College of Nursing, Saveetha Nagar, Thandalam, Chennai - 602 105 on 10.08.2011 at 09.00 am.

Fee Structure:

The Candidates once selected for admission should pay the following fees at the time of Admission and thereafter in the month of May every year. The fees once paid will not be refunded. In case the candidate wants to discontinue/withdraw during the middle of the course, he/she has to pay the entire course fee (for two years) before discontinuing.

The Annual Tuition fee includes laboratory, research, library, internet, sports and cultural fee.
Apart from the annual fees the following has to be paid at the time of admission.
Admission Fee	: Rs.5,000/-
University Registration Fee	: Rs.3,500/-
Caution Deposit	: Rs.5,000/- (Refundable at the end of the Course)

13. Eligibility Certificate from Saveetha University
